Introduction to the Computation Offloading from Mobile Devices to the Edge of Mobile Network

    Get PDF
This paper introduces the concept of Small Cell Cloud (SCC) composed of multiple Cloud-enabled Small Cells (CeSCs), which provide radio connection for mobile User Equipment (UE) such as smart-phones or wearables such as smart glasses. Moreover, CeSCs host computations offloaded from UEs in a way similar to centralized cloud, yet different in its proximity to users. Proposed client-server architecture of SCC con-veys mechanisms for moving offloaded computations from the UEs to CeSCs. Real-life implementation of the SCC architecture relies on custom-developed Of-floading Framework which is responsible for low-level communication between the UE and the SCC. The Of-floading Framework is accompanied by an Augmented Reality (AR) app, which employs intensive computa-tions for discovery of places of interest. Such app is latency-sensitive, a criterion which makes computation offloading beneficial due to its ability to decrease la-tency. The combination of the O˜oading Framework and the AR app makes up an SCC testbed used for fur-ther performance evaluation. Numerous measurements are carried out to examine the impact of various pa-rameters. Based on Proof-of-concept implementation and thorough measurements, it has been revealed that computation offloading can decrease overall latency as much as to 47 % and energy consumption on the UE side to 56

The purpose of our study is to monitor and analyze the composition of selected body masses of female v junior volleyball players. The data were obtained from 18 players, aged 14 to 19 years, of the Královo Pole volleyball club in Brno, Czech Republic (VV KP Brno), between 1 August 2014 and 20 December 2014. Body composition was measured by Inbody 230 – Biospace using the bioimpedance measurement method. We obtained the following data from measurement: BMI (Body Mass Index), PBF (Percentage Body Fat), body mass, muscle and fat mass of both upper and lower limbs and the trunk. Mann-Whitney U test is used to compare differences between the values obtained before the preseason preparation, after the preseason preparation and after three months of the season. All statistical computations were performed using R software (R Core Team 2013). Comparing the results after the preliminary part we diagnosed a significant difference (p<0.05) increase of percentage of total fat mass (p=0.0266). After the preliminary part of the season significant difference describing increase of body mass (p=0.0462) was found, together with increase of body fat in left upper (p=0.0313), right upper (p=0.0429) limb and with increase of trunk mass (p=0.0379). The study revealed interesting information about a change of the body mass and body fat percentage of volleyball players of VK KP Brno during the regular season. The findings from the preseason preparation confirmed the expected change, i.e. that the muscle mass increases while the body mass and body fat percentage decrease

Analyses and modeling impulse noise generated by household appliances

    Get PDF
This paper describes analysis of impulse noise generated by small household appliances. Furthermore we propose a new model of impulse noise based on the averaged power spectrum and the random phase generation with various phase distributions. The Gaussian, Weibull and Log-normal phase distributions were used to generate random phase. As a result of this approach, new impulses appear – they are different in the time domain but in the frequency domain new impulses have the desired power spectrum and the randomly generated phase

Massive development of online learning materials

We participated in collaborative development of more than six hundred comprehensive online teaching materials for higher professional schools in the Czech Republic. The paper focuses on explaining the procedures and methods that we used to make the development process as efficient as possible, which was necessary with respect to the quantity of the materials and the limited time. Managing the logistics was the key, as several hundred people took part in the project. We are also describing, from the edagogical point of view, the OER structure, its division into educational blocks, and types of educational objects

It shows advantages and disadvantages of this sector and provides an objective view of how to use the internet as suitable medium for the implementation of marketing activities. In context of this work was built the overview of various tools and evaluation of their effectiveness with the view to future trends which internet marketing follows. The analysis of creation of campaigns for German company Beiersdorf is included, specifically for cosmetic brand Nivea. This analysis presents the brand and goals, which wants to achieve through the campaign. It also includes description of solutions and evaluation of its success on the basis of goals defined by advertiser.

katedra: KMG; rozsah: 103Diploma thesis concerns the communication strategy of products on the video game market. Its goal is to investigate in detail the behaviour and habits of players in the Czech Republic according to the platform on which they play. The main objective is to define customer market segments and to propose a communication strategy for the Video Game Industry Association of the Czech and Slovak Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis explains the basic concepts of marketing and marketing communication, but focuses mainly on characteristics of the video game market and its products. The practical part consists of the questionnaire survey which formed the basis of the analysis of the Czech market. It further contains definitions of customer market segments and a proposed communication strategy for effectively addressing and informing the broad public. The survey respondents are video game players from throughout the Czech Republic regardless of their game preferences.

The development of nanotechnology is particularly in recent years very dynamic and is applied in many not only technical branches. This is not possible to say about monitoring of possible health and environmental undesirable influence. The first area of possible risk assessment is work environment because there is a lot of possible ways to exposition. The aim of the paper is to analyze current situation in the field of occupational safety and health management in the workspace with occurrence of nanoparticles not only like the engineered nanomaterials. Because there is a lot of influence which could have the negative impact on the employee's healt
